Breast enlargement

Markings before breast enlargement surgery

Beautiful, elastic, firm breasts in an attractive shape - isn't that what every woman dreams of?Plastic breast enlargement is often accompanied by an enormous size and an unnatural appearance.In practice, very few patients seek such radical changes.Most often, there is a desire to enlarge the breasts by a few sizes - for example, from 1 to 3. Modern implants and surgical technologies make it possible to achieve the most natural appearance of the breasts, avoid complications and give women self-confidence.

Breast enlargement surgery (augmentation) is called augmentation mammoplasty.It is performed under general anesthesia with implants of different shapes and sizes.The advantage of breast augmentation in modern plastic surgery is the ability to achieve symmetry and correct any congenital defects.Including improving the appearance of the nipple-areola complex.

Which implants are best to choose?

Implants have different shapes: anatomical and round.The former ensure soft and natural breast contours thanks to their teardrop shape.The mammary glands look very natural.Round implants give the breast a visually larger size and make it appear raised (push-up).With them, the contour of the upper décolleté becomes higher.

The profile types of breast implants also vary: from low to extra high.The surface of silicone implants can be smooth or textured.

Your doctor will help you choose implants.The surgeon has extensive experience in mammoplasty and will recommend several manufacturers and also explain to you which type of implant is most suitable in your case.

During the consultation, you will have the opportunity to try on models of implants - sizers - to imagine what the future breast shape will look like.

Ways to enlarge the mammary glands

A plastic surgeon performs breast augmentation in different ways.They can be surgical or non-surgical.The first include:

  • Augmentation mammoplasty with round or anatomical implants: breast enlargement by several sizes;the result of the operation is saved forever;
  • Breast lipofilling: enlargement by 1-1.5 sizes through injections of purified autologous fat from “problem” areas;The result of lipofilling lasts forever if you avoid significant weight loss.

A cosmetic method for breast enlargement is the injection of absorbable gels (fillers).This method is quite expensive: contourplasty with fillers costs almost as much as mammoplasty and the effect lasts on average for up to 2 years.

The shape of the glands can be corrected with a thread lift.The procedure does not enlarge the breast, but gives it a beautiful shape.

Advantages of mammoplasty:

  • Nice breast proportions.When consulting before breast enlargement surgery, the doctor will recommend the most suitable type of implant, the method of its installation (under the mammary gland or under the muscle), as well as access options (axillary, submammary, periareolar).Implants are always selected individually - the range of leading manufacturers includes hundreds of models that differ in volume, shape and size.
  • Modeling the result.By modeling or trying on sizers (models of prostheses used to select implants), you can assess in advance how well the effect of mammoplasty meets your expectations.
  • Guarantee for implants.Clinics give a guarantee on implants that are inserted into the breast. The safety of endoprostheses for breast enlargement has been confirmed by clinical studies: they do not affect the general condition of the body, do not pose a danger in the event of damage to the membrane (silicone gel with a dense structure does not penetrate the surrounding tissues), do not interfere with the preventive examination of the mammary glands and do not limit the possibility of future breastfeeding.
  • Breast enlargement by several sizes.If the volume can only be adjusted within relatively small limits (1-1.5 sizes) during breast enlargement using your own fatty tissue (lipofilling), an impressive effect can be achieved with the help of mammoplasty in one operation.Once you get the volume you want, you can be sure that it will not change over time.
  • Security and trust in the result.The result of augmentation (breast enlargement) depends on the professionalism of the surgeon, therefore breast enlargement should be performed in a specialized clinic by doctors with extensive experience.

Methods of performing breast enlargement surgery

The implant can be inserted:

  • under the gland;
  • under the muscle.

Installing implants under the gland shortens the rehabilitation time.Recovery is less painful.However, this method is fraught with complications later.For example, sagging breasts can be more noticeable.Constrictive fibrosis, if present, may be more severe.For girls who have not yet given birth but plan to have children, implants are placed only under the muscle.

Possible access:

  • submammary (incision under the breast);
  • periareolar (incision around the nipple-areola complex);
  • axillary (lateral cut in the armpit area).

Submammary approach– the most preferred method for controlled recovery.It is used in breast operations when the patient plans to give birth and breastfeed the child later.Even very large implants can be inserted easily via this access.Post-operative scars remain hidden in the folds under the breasts.

Periareolar approachgood if breast lift and breast enlargement are performed at the same time.This type of approach allows you to change the shape of the nipple-areola complex.If the areola is small, installing a large implant is not possible.Scars with a periareolar approach follow the contour of the areola.Over time they become almost invisible to the naked eye.This approach is not recommended for nulliparous girls as the operation can damage the milk ducts.

Axillary approachgood for installing small implants.However, it is not possible to insert such anatomical implants, only round ones.In this case, the scars are in the armpit area.

Types of Breast Enlargement Implants

For breast enlargement, silicone implants of different volumes (1 size corresponds to 120 ml) and shapes are used: round or teardrop-shaped (anatomical).

  • Mammoplasty surgery with the installation of round implants creates voluminous, raised breasts with regularly rounded contours.In nature, this shape of the mammary glands (“apple”) occurs quite rarely, so the breast may look less natural after breast enlargement than after the insertion of anatomical implants.However, this type of implant is suitable for correcting mild ptosis of the mammary glands without additional tightening.
  • Teardrop-shaped implants reproduce the most common shape of the mammary glands: they resemble a cone in appearance.With them, the breast acquires a fuller lower pole with a gentle descent characteristic of a natural breast.Sometimes the existing asymmetry can only be corrected by using implants of different volumes.

In different cases, your surgeon may recommend implants with a smooth or textured surface.

  • Smooth round models are suitable for installation via the axillary (transaxillary) approach.
  • For breast enlargement via an access under the mammary gland (submammary), anatomically shaped models with a structured surface are often chosen, which allows you to achieve a beautiful, natural result.

Indications for breast enlargement

  • unsatisfactory breast size;
  • breast asymmetry;
  • Ptosis due to breastfeeding/sudden weight loss;
  • excess fatty tissue;
  • excess glandular tissue;
  • unsatisfactory nipple shape.

For reconstructive breast correction - after removal of tumors or a complete mastectomy - plastic surgery with implants is indicated.The operation is therefore not just aesthetic in nature.It can also be carried out for medical reasons.

Contraindications to mammoplasty of the mammary glands

  • early age (up to 18);
  • pregnancy and breastfeeding period;
  • problems with blood clotting;
  • liver disease;
  • cardiovascular and endocrine diseases;
  • diabetes mellitus;
  • Oncology;
  • Respiratory diseases;
  • infectious and viral diseases;
  • mental disorders.

If the results of preoperative examinations are not satisfactory, the operation will be postponed to a later date or canceled.

Two weeks before surgery, you must stop taking blood thinners and hormonal medications.

How is breast enlargement performed?

  1. The patient talks to the surgeon.Preoperative markings are made.This is followed by a conversation with the anesthesiologist.
  2. The operation itself is carried out under general anesthesia and lasts 1.5 to 3 hours.The doctor makes small incisions under the breast / in the armpits / in the area around the nipple.The implant is placed under the gland or muscle through an incision.The position of the implant will be discussed in advance during the consultation.
  3. Drains are then placed and sutures are applied.
  4. After recovering from anesthesia, the patient remains in the hospital for 24 hours after the operation as patients need to be monitored around the clock.

Which exams must be completed before the testing procedure?

If your doctor plans to perform cosmetic correction under local anesthesia, you will need to undergo several basic tests before the procedure:

  • General clinical blood test (complete + platelets)
  • Coagulogram (blood clotting time, bleeding time, INR, prothrombin index, fibrinogen, APTT)
  • Biochemical blood test: ALT, AST, bilirubin, cholesterol, urea, creatinine
  • Blood sugar test (glucose test).
  • Tests for hepatitis B, hepatitis C, HIV, syphilis

Blood group test (with Rh)

  • ECG (electrocardiogram)
  • Fluorography
  • General urine test
  • Examination by a mammologist, including breast ultrasound or mammography
  • Therapist's conclusion on the possibility of surgery (for patients over 30 years old)

*Your doctor may order additional tests to more accurately predict the result and minimize the risk of complications during breast augmentation.

Rehabilitation phase

After the operation, you will remain in the hospital under the supervision of medical staff until the next morning.Sometimes you have to stay in the clinic for two days.Then you go home.In the first few days, swelling, pain, a slight increase in body temperature and a feeling of “tightness” are the norm.Swelling and pain usually disappear within 10-14 days after surgery.After 2 weeks, the surgeon removes the stitches.Until then, you must take the medication prescribed by your doctor.In the first few days after cosmetic surgery, you will need to take antibiotics, so alcoholic drinks are prohibited.Pain medications recommended by your surgeon will help ease pain after surgery.

After plastic surgery, the risk of allergic reactions must be excluded.Therefore, it is not recommended to consume foods that cause allergies.The doctor will provide you with a list of these during the consultation.Allergies are dangerous because they cause swelling and therefore pain.

What should you not do during the recovery period?

  • overexert yourself physically and emotionally;
  • go to the sauna, swimming pool or gym;
  • sunbathing;
  • sleep on your side;
  • raise your hands up;
  • Touch and rub the breast.

You must wear compression clothing for a month.It is better to wear non-wired sports bras for the next two months.You can renew your laundry wardrobe 3 months after mammoplasty.

The doctor will prescribe an examination plan for you.It is important to follow these to avoid side effects.

Possible complications

If the doctor's recommendations are not followed, displacement of the implant and the development of inflammatory processes may occur.For a controlled result, we leave the drainage in place.This reduces the risk of postoperative complications.

At a later period there is a risk of the formation of constrictive fibrosis - the formation of a dense capsule around the implant.Implant manufacturers state the possible percentage risk of capsular fibrosis.We work with implants that have the lowest risk of connective tissue growth around them.

Sometimes the mammary glands do not completely cover the contours of the implant due to their small size.In this case, lipofilling can be performed to hide the implant and give the breast a natural look.

The implant can rupture due to an injury.If there is a break, it is surgically removed and replaced with a new one.

When should you contact a surgeon?

  • chest feels hard;
  • the skin color in the implant area changes;
  • a vascular network appears;
  • the chest is deformed;
  • Pain occurs.

Patients often come to us after operations in other clinics with complaints of capsular fibrosis.Subsequently, a repeat mammoplasty with replacement of the implant and removal of the fibrous tissue is performed.

Constrictive fibrosis is more common when the implant is positioned beneath the gland.If it is under the muscle, small signs of fibrosis may be undetectable and harmless.

If you want to find a place that will perform breast enlargement inexpensively, think twice that it is about your health - physical and mental.Take your time and make an informed decision.

Breast enlargement price

The price for breast enlargement varies from clinic to clinic.It arises from several factors:

  1. Competence of the surgeon
  2. plastic method
  3. Cost of implants
  4. Amount of consumables
  5. Duration of anesthesia
  6. Duration of hospital stay
